Simon Cowell turned up at the launch of his unauthorised biography, Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell, which was written by investigative journalist Tom Bower.

The stories of affairs, money, power and, eh, black toilet-roll have been filling the column inches for the past number of weeks, and now the unauthorised biography of Simon Cowell’s life has hit the shelves in bookstores.

Cowell was interviewed by Tom Bower for Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell which includes allegations that he had a brief relationship with his X Factor co-star Dannii Minogue and details of his grooming regime.

Cowell was apparently said to be furious at the sordid details of his personal life being made public. However, Cowell turned up to support Bowers at the launch of the book yesterday.

The music mogul told reporters at the event that he had spent a week hiding in his bed and avoiding the newspapers after the allegations emerged.

He said: "I spent the week under my pillow, and banned newspapers from my house. I knew it was bad because friends were sending me sweet messages saying, 'Are you ok?' Being invited here is like being a mouse invited to a dinner party by a cat. But I do like Tom, I've grown to like my captor."

Cowell jokingly added: "Actually, since my friends are all here, I want to announce I'm taking a year off from TV tonight. I'm bringing out my own book - the sordid sexual life of Tom Bower."
