Following reports yesterday that Ronan Keating and Yvonne had called time on their marriage, the singer has confirmed that they have separated after 14 years.
In simultaneous announcements on their respective Twitter pages, they revealed they had kept their split private for the sake of their three children.
Former model Yvonne revealed last night that they decided to go their separate ways last year. Yvonne, 37, wrote: "Sadly, our marriage ended late last year. We kept this news private to give everybody involved time to adjust. Thank you for your support x."
Ronan, 35, then tweeted: "Sadly our news is true. Thank u all for your support. Yvonne and I still love and care for each other and want to protect our kids. X."
A source told The Sunday Independent: "They broke up in November and that was that. There was no going back. But the friendship and the love will always be there. Neither of them wanted this to happen. Their lives will be forever entwined; it is just that they are no longer together.
"The damage to Ronan and Yvonne's relationship was never repaired despite many attempts. They nearly sorted it out last year but it just didn't last. God knows, they don't want this situation but they are thinking of what is best for their kids.
"They told their children a while ago before it got into the newspapers. They are all very strong as a family."
