Adam Levine is gearing up to make his acting debut in American Horror Story.

The Maroon 5 frontman is currently in final talks about playing a contemporary character in the second series of the hit thriller, reports EW.com.

Show bosses have been so impressed with the Moves Like Jagger singer - who is also appearing as a coach on US talent show The Voice - that they have decided to shoot his scenes around his touring schedule.

The 33-year-old's character would be half of a couple called The Lovers, but so far little else about the part is known.

The successful US television series will feature a new story, new location and new characters when it returns later this year.

Jessica Lange and other season one co-stars, including Sarah Paulson and Zachary Quinto, have signed up to play new characters in the revamped series.
