Thousands of people have taken part in the Operation Transformation 5k Fun Run in the Phoenix Park today, Saturday February 18.

Five-thousand people signed up for the run, with registration fully booked within three days. Last year 3,500 people ran, walked or jogged the course.

The five Operation Transformation leaders – Adrian Brereton, Grace Batterberry, Killian Byrne, Kayleigh Yeoman and Natalie Cox - have been training and working towards the run for the past seven weeks.

The leaders were joined by the show's three experts, Dr Eddie Murphy, Dr Eva Orsmond and Karl Henry, presenter Kathryn Thomas and RTÉ Radio 1 presenter John Murray.

The run was organised by Athletics Ireland in association with the Irish Sports Council, Dublin City Council and the Phoenix Park.

The final episode of the current series of Operation Transformation airs next Wednesday, February 22, on RTÉ One at 8pm.

The finale will see the five leaders strut their stuff on the catwalk in front of family and friends.
