The first series of Brendan O'Carroll's Mrs Brown's Boys has sold over one million copies on DVD in Ireland and the UK since it went on sale in October.

The Irish Independent reports that the IFTA-winning series is now the third biggest-selling comedy DVD of all time in Ireland and the UK after The Office and Little Britain.

O'Carroll said: "I am thrilled to see one million DVDs go out of the stores, but I'm running out of places to store them!

"Seriously, I am delighted with the success for all concerned: Universal Pictures, BBC One, RTÉ and my own production company, BocPix.

"We've worked very hard over the last 10 years to get this far, so it is such a joy to see this widow from Dublin take on the world."
