Amy Adams is set to star in a film adaptation of Steve Martin's novel An Object of Beauty.

The Fighter actress will also produce the movie with Maven Pictures producers Trudie Styler and Celine Rattray, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

An Object of Beauty follows an art gallery owner over 15 years of her life, as she travels the world and becomes romantically involved with a series of men, one who becomes a famous artist.

Styler and Tattray said of Adam's involvement with the film: "We couldn't be happier to be working with the brilliant Amy Adams on this adaptation of Steve Martin's smart novel.

"This project continues on Maven's mission of making films that highlight strong female characters and talent."

Martin, who is best known as a comedy actor, has written several plays and novels. His book Shopgirl was adapted into a film in 2005, which starred Claire Danes and Jason Schwartzman.
