US network Starz has acquired the broadcast rights to the Chris O'Dowd and Romola Garai-starring BBC miniseries The Crimson Petal and the White.

Deadline.com reports that the four-part psychological thriller - shown on BBC Two in 2011 - will premiere on Starz' Encore channel in the US on March 6.

Based on Michael Faber's bestselling book of the same name, The Crimson Petal and The White tells the story of Sugar (Garai), a young sex worker who becomes the mistress of a wealthy businessman, William Rackham (O'Dowd), in Victorian London.

O'Dowd is currently filming his new Sky1 series, Moone Boy, in Ireland.
