The success of the Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle-starring Irish comedy-thriller The Guard continues, with a deal now concluded to bring the movie to Spanish cinemas.

Variety reports that Spanish producer-distributor A Contracorriente Films has secured all Spanish rights to the John Michael McDonagh-directed film.

The Guard is due to be released in Spain in the first half of 2012 in around 50 cinemas.

The Guard has taken over €4.3m at the Irish box office and $5.3m in the US.

It has also been released in the UK, Germany and Australia, among other countries.
