EastEnders star Charlie Brooks was crowned the champion of the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special, even managing to impress judge Craig Revel Horwood.

Brooks beat boxer Barry McGuigan, comedy actress Debra Stephenson, Blue's Simon Webbe and former Hi-De-Hi star Su Pollard to claim the glitterball trophy.

Paying tribute to her professional partner, Vincent Simone, Brooks said: "I've had such a brilliant time, he has been amazing. I've made such a good friend here."

The actress said her daughter Kiki would be delighted with her win.

"My little girl is going to be so happy," she said.

Revel Horwood said of Brooks and Simone's dancing: "One word, three syllables, darlings, starting with F. Fab-u-lous."

Fellow judge Len Goodman said their work on the dancefloor was "sharp and tasty, like a pickled walnut with a bit of cheese for supper on Christmas Night".
