Emeli Sandé has been named as the Brit Awards Critics' Choice for 2012.
The Scottish singer-songwriter won the prestigious honour over second-placed singer/rapper Maverick Sabre, who was brought up in Wexford, and third-placed soul artist Michael Kiwanuka.
Sandé said of winning the award, which is chosen by a panel of industry experts: "To win a Brit Award so early in my career is beyond a dream come true.
"I am overwhelmed to be the recipient of such a prestigious award. Thank you so much."
The singer's debut album, Our Version of Events, is due to be released in February 2012.
Previous winners of the Critics' Choice honour are Jessie J, Florence & The Machine, Adele and Ellie Goulding.
The Brit Awards will take place on February 21, 2012 at The O2 London and will be hosted by James Corden.
