‘Mad Men’ star Jon Hamm has claimed that his character Don Draper has not changed throughout the show's four-season run.

At a recent Los Angeles Times Q&A session, the actor suggested that the duplicitous and womanising ad ececutive remains a "pretty damaged person".

Hamm explained: "There's a fundamental falsehood about his existence. I think the previous four seasons have been about Don constantly seeking change . . . and then ultimately failing."

He also refuted the suggestion that Draper's new marriage to Megan (Jessica Paré) will see the serial womaniser mend his ways.

"I think [the fourth] season's arc has brought him the closest he has come to some kind of fundamental shift in who he is," admitted Hamm. "But I think he's still the same scared person . . . running from the war in many ways."

It was recently confirmed that Hamm will direct the season premiere of Mad Men's fifth season, which is expected to begin production in 2012.
