While no official announcement has been made, 'Scrubs' executive producer and former star Zach Braff has said he believes that there will not be another series of the medical comedy.

TVGuide.com reports that on his Facebook page, Braff wrote: "Many of you have asked, so here it is: it appears that 'New Scrubs', 'Scrubs 2.0', 'Scrubs with new kids', 'Scrubbier', 'Scrubs without JD' is no more. It was worth a try, but alas ... it didn't work."

The network that screens 'Scrubs' in the US, ABC, would not comment.

The ninth series of 'Scrubs' featured many new cast members, a new medical school setting and only guest appearances from Braff and longtime co-star Sarah Chalke as JD and Elliot.

The season finale drew only 3.4m viewers in the US on 17 March.
