Australian actress Cate Blanchett is in talks to join the cast of the new 'Indiana Jones' film.
This will be the fourth instalment of the adventures, which star Harrison Ford as archaeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones.
The series started in 1981 with 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'; the last film was 1989's 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade'.
Harrison Ford is already set to star and the film will be directed by Steven Spielberg, with production due to start in Los Angeles this June.
Blanchett's potential role has not yet been revealed but, according to Reuters, she will have a starring role.
She was most recently seen on Irish screens in 'Babel' and 'Notes on a Scandal', for which she received an Oscar nomination.
Paramount Pictures is due to release the new film on 22 May 2008.
