While taking a break from directing, Steven Spielberg is developing two new TV series in the US.

Variety reports that the first series is set in the fashion world and is based on an idea of Spielberg's; he developed the concept for the programme after attending New York Fashion Week.

Husband and wife Ed Burns and Christy Turlington have signed up to write the drama, which follows five twentysomethings who work in the fashion industry.

The second show is from writer Scott Gemmill and focuses on time travel, with a romantic story at its centre.

It tells the story of two physicists during World War II who discover how to travel into the future, with one of the duo forming a relationship with a woman in 2007.

Other projects Spielberg is developing include a documentary on time travel and a miniseries of the Stephen King-Peter Straub book 'The Talisman'.
