Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins is to release a solo album, entitled 'British Wail'.

NME.com reports that album will be released two months after the second Darkness album, which is due out in the autumn.

Speaking to The Sun about the album, Hawkins said: "It's a lot less rock than the band stuff. There are a lot more synths. I suppose you could call it luxurious rock."

Hawkins recorded the album during breaks from making the new Darkness record; the first single will be a cover of Sparks' 'This Town Ain't Big Enough for Both of Us'.
