A spokesperson for the actor Christian Slater has dismissed reports that the star was involved in a knife attack outside London's Gielgud Theatre.

Reports had claimed that the 36-year-old was attacked by a man with a knife as he was leaving the theatre, where he had been starring in a production of 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest', last Friday night.

Tom Coupe, a spokesman for the show, said: "Slater wasn't nearby, he didn't see this person (the attacker). He had already left the theatre."

It was claimed that Slater was rescued by a security guard who came to his aid.

London police have revealed that a 44-year-old man was attacked, but that no one has been arrested.
