White Stripes frontman Jack White has had surgery on his index finger following an accident which caused the band to cancel their Witnness appearance.

White, who shattered a bone in the index finger of his fretting hand, was told by doctors not to play guitar at festivals which included Witnness, T in the Park, Reading and Leeds.

When the break did not heal properly, White had to have surgery to strengthen his finger by implanting three screws in the bone.

A video of the surgery is available online at the White Stripes official site (www.whitestripes.com).
