Rory Gallagher fans are expected to flock to Ballyshannon, County Donegal this weekend for an inaugural tribute festival to the late guitarist.

The three-day event features lectures, film screenings and workshops as well as a number of concerts and intimate gigs.

A highlight of the festival will be a performance by bassist Gerry McEvoy, keyboardist Lou Martin, drummer Brendan O'Neill and harmonica player Mark Feltham, all of whom were part of the guitarist's band for many years.

The Festival's Chairman, Barry O'Neill, told 2FM he hoped the event would be a fitting tribute to Gallagher, who was born in Ballyshannon before moving to Cork with his family as a child.
