Dublin band The Frames have announced the recruitment of a new guitarist and the departure of their drummer.

Former guitarist Dave Odlum, who left the band in November 2001, is to be replaced by American Rob Bochnik who has worked with bands including Garden Bower, the Butcher Shop Quartet and Nad Navillus.

The band met Bochnik at Steve Albini's Electrical Audio Studios where he has worked as a recording engineer for the last eight years - and where they recorded part of their last album 'For the Birds'.

Drummer Dave Hingerty left the Frames in January and will be temporarily replaced by original Frames drummer Paul Brennan ('Binzer') and Graham Hopkins (ex-Therapy, Gemma Hayes).

The band are due to start a US tour in Boston this Friday.
