Irish actor Colin Farrell launched the inaugural Jameson Dublin International Film Festival last night.

The festival will screen 66 films from 30 countries over eight days from 6 to 13 March at the Screen Cinema, The Savoy Cinema and the Irish Film Centre.

Irish and international stars will attend screenings of their films including Farrell who will be at the screening of 'The Recruit' on Sunday 9 March and take part in a public interview afterwards.

Director Michael Winterbottom ('Welcome to Sarajevo', '24 Hour Party People') will be at the screening of his Berlin Golden Bear Winner 'In This World'.

Jim Sheridan will open the Xtra-Vision Irish Premiere Season with his latest film, 'In America'.

Oscar Nominees Javier Bardem ('Mondays In The Sun') and Laura Linney and Alan Parker ('The Life of David Gale') will also be at the festival.

French legend Claire Denis will also attend the festival for a special season of her films.

The Festival box office is open from today at 33 Eden Quay.
