Metallica and Linkin Park are to headline a new Irish festival which will take place at the RDS Showground Arena on Wednesday 20 August.

The concert organisers hope that this one day event will grow to become a 2-day 5-stage festival at Stradbally Hall estate in Stradbally, Co Laois.

The festival, to be called Reading Ireland, will be twined with Mean Fiddler's Reading and Leeds festivals in the UK.

Co-headliners Metallica and Linkin Park will be coming to Dublin after touring America together with Limp Bizkit on the 'Second Summer Sanitarium Tour'.

On Metallica's last visit to Ireland they sold out the Point Depot in record time but this will be Linkin Park's first Irish concert.

More acts will be announced.

Tickets, priced €59.50 including booking fee, go on sale Saturday 1 March at 9am from Ticketmaster and usual outlets.
