The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has confirmed that the Oscars ceremony is to be moved to February from 2004.
The Academy voted last month to move the ceremony from late March to 29 February, however exact dates for qualification and nominations have not been confirmed.
Academy executive director Bruce Davis has described the move as "a two-year experiment".
The 2003 Oscars will be held on 23 March at the Kodak Theatre.
The Oscars move has forced the UK's Baftas to also change its date from 2004 – to 8 February.
