Westlife have beaten pop princess Kylie Minogue to the top of the British charts, notching up their 10th number one.

The Irish boys knocked Enrique Iglesias from his four-week stay at the top of the UK single charts with the title single from their album, 'World of Our Own'.

Madonna has also had 10 UK number ones - over an 18 year period; The Beatles hold the record with 17 number one hits.

Westlife will now face competition to hang on to their number one place from a cover of one of their own songs as Pop Idol winner Will Young releases his debut 'Evergreen' today.

Kylie's single 'In Your Eyes' entered the UK charts at number three yesterday.
