Irish singer Enya has been nominated in the Best Song category for this year's Oscars.

'May It Be', with music and lyrics by Enya, Nicky Ryan and Roma Ryan, from the 'Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring' faces competition from Sting, Paul McCartney, Randy Newman and Diane Warren in the category.

Sting is nominated for 'Until' from 'Kate and Leopold', Paul McCartney for 'Vanilla Sky' from the film of the same name, Randy Newman for 'If I Didn't Have You' from 'Monsters Inc' and Diane Warren for 'There You'll Be' from 'Pearl Harbor'.

In another coup for Ireland, Peter Devlin from Belfast was among the nominees for Best Sound for 'Pearl Harbor'.

Devlin was the Sound Mixer on the film and is nominated along with Kevin O'Connell and Greg P Russell. This is his first Academy Award nomination.
