Neil Jordan has received an honorary degree from Queen's University Belfast.

The director of 'Michael Collins', 'Interview with a Vampire' and 'The Crying Game' was described as "one of Ireland's most extraordinary multi-faceted artists".

In presenting the Doctor of Literature degree, Professor David Johnston also said Jordan's work raised "uncomfortable, but absolutely necessary, questions about the history and identity of those of us who live on this island, North and South."
