Martin Scorsese's upcoming epic 'Gangs of New York' is set to be released in the US next summer.

The film had been expected to hit cinemas in the spring, following a decision to move it from release this month.

It had been rumoured that Scorsese and studio boss Harvey Weinstein were at loggerheads over the film's length, with Weinstein wanting the film shortened.

But both men have said that reports of trouble between them were untrue and that the finished movie is Scorsese's cut.
