'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone' has been knocked off the top of the US box office charts by 'Ocean's Eleven', a remake of a 1960s Rat Pack film.

The Harry Potter film spent three weeks at the top of the charts but was bested by Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and George Clooney who star in 'Ocean's Eleven'.

The original version of the film featured Frank Sinatra as a crook with a plan to rob four Las Vegas casinos at twelve midnight on New Year's Eve. Rat Pack regulars Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr also starred.

The remake, directed by Steven Soderberg, is due to open in Europe early in 2002.
