Irish film director Neil Jordan has won the Best Screenplay award for his film, 'The End of the Affair', at the Evening Standard Film Awards, held last night at London's Savoy Hotel. The top honour, Best Film, went to 'Topsy-Turvy', a period comedy directed by Mike Leigh about Gilbert and Sullivan's 'The Mikado'. 'Topsy Turvy's' star, Jim Broadbent, won Best Actor, while the Best Actress award went to Julie Walters for her role in the film 'Billy Elliot'.
