As previously noted, the Irish music scene is thriving, and then some, with outstanding new tunes landing on a daily basis. We're wowed by the eclectic, genre-bending diversity of the homegrown talent out there right now. Listen to some highlights from our current playlist.

1. The Tempest by Ensemble Ériu

Infusing trad music with the hypnotic repetition of minimalism and the organic improvisatory spirit of jazz, this seven-piece ensemble make a big, bold, beautiful noise - their new album, Imbas, is a stunner:

3. Bonus Ball by Jinx Lennon

Dundalk's very own punk-poet laureate dropped not one but two new albums, Magic Bullets Of Madness To Uplift The Grief Magnets, and Past Pupil Stay Sane, both utterly essential, and unmistakably Jinx-ian:

Straight outta Drumcondra, this Dublin-born MC raps to box-fresh beats with a distinctly Dublin twang. Mate-of-a-mate Lilly-Rose Depp starred in his video for All Around The World, and he opened for Madonna (at her request) on her last world tour, Make no mistake, he's going to be absolutely massive:

6. Talk Dirty by Booka Brass Band

One of the great live bands of recent hours, this brassy combo have just delivered the party record of the season, plain and simple, their debut album Chilled Milk. The words 'too damn funky' comes to mind:
