RTÉ- Meet the Commissioning Teams Breakfast

RTÉ would like to invite Producers/Production Companies to attend a "Meet the Commissioning Teams" breakfast.

Date and time: Friday June 15th @ 8.30 am.

Location: RTÉ Sports and Social Club (rear of RTÉ campus)
The morning will start at 8.30 a.m. with registration in the RTÉ Sports and Social Club. From 8.30 - 8.45 there will be a light breakfast served. The sessions will start promptly @ 9am. (NB: No admittance after 9am).

Registration: We are asking producers to register and only registered participants will be admitted and given seats. Registration is strictly two participants per company- please note that if more than two attend on the day we will not be able to accommodate them. As spaces are limited and last year's event generated a lot of interest it is advisable that you register early.

NB: Registration opens on Tuesday 05th June; we cannot accept registration before this date.

Timetable:
A Commissioning Editor or their Commissioning Executive will join every table for a period. They will take questions from the people at the table. Please note: It is advisable to have read the commissioning briefs in advance on the RTÉ Commissioning website - www.rte.ie/commissioning. The Commissioning Briefs will have been updated in the days leading up to this event. Copies will not be handed out on the day

The event will end at 12.30 sharp.

Parking will be available in the multi-storey carpark.

Journalism Guidelines - information session on these guidelines.

RTÉ are in the process of drafting new programme guidelines; these will be made available via the intranet in the next few weeks. These guidelines are being introduced in an interim form pending the completion of the new BAI Code on Fairness, Objectivity and Impartiality in News and Current Affairs. The BAI also has plans to introduce a Code on Privacy in a revision of its Code of Programme Standards due in 2013.

The Interim guidelines available at this link http://www.rte.ie/about/pdfs/rte-journalism-guidelines-april3-2012.pdf have been drawn up with the assistance of Stephen Whittle who previously held the position of Controller Editorial Policy with the BBC from 2001-2006 during which time he oversaw the complete revision of the BBC's Editorial Guidelines.

As an independent producer, you are invited to attend an information session on these guidelines on Tuesday 22nd May at 10am in the TV Centre, Donnybrook, Dublin 4. The session will last about an hour or so and be facilitated by Peter Feeney, Head of Broadcast Compliance, RTÉ. Knowledge of and adherence to these guidelines will be a contractual obligation on independent producers making programmes for RTÉ. While printed copies of the guidelines will be provided to all attendees, it is strongly advised to read through these Interim Guidelines before attending.

The venue can accommodate up to 60 places so if you would like to attend, please send an email to tvtraining@rte.ie asap. Please assemble at TV Reception on Tuesday 22nd May 2012 at 10am where you will be brought to the meeting room.
