A standard commissioning cycle is not at present considered appropriate for drama, and thus an alternative approach is used.

• The Drama Commissioning Editor meets with the Independent Producers interested in drama (as invited by SPI) once a year to discuss the requirements for RTÉ over the coming couple of years.  There are also regular meetings with individual Producers throughout the year.
