Marquis of Clanricarde in Court Attempting to Block Land Purchase

The long running dispute over the ownership of lands held by the Marquis of Clanricarde, in Tipperary, Clare and Galway, appeared before the Master of the Rolls today. At the heart of the case are an estimated 45,000 acres of land held by the Marquis, that should have been redistributed to his tenants. The Congested Districts Board are seeking a compulsory order to take this acreage away from the Marquis. His legal team described the action as illegal and unauthorized. The case will continue.
