Battle of Aisne rages on

Published: 16 September 1914

The fierce fighting in northern France at the battle of Aisne continues today and the latest official dispatches indicate no change in the situation.

The Germans have thrown up formidable defences, and are making a last desperate effort to retain their position in French territory. However, the counter attacks made the by the Germans against the British forces were unsuccessful.

The battle is now said to have exceeded the battle of Marne in fierceness.
