Tragedy as Fethard lifeboats sink in attempted rescue

Tragedy has struck off the coast of Wexford this evening as the lifeboat crew sent out to rescue the Norwegian schooner, Mexico, have themselves been lost to the storm.

The two Fethard lifeboats departed in the direction of  the Keeragh Islands, which is where the Mexico ran aground. Frantic efforts are being made to rescue the fourteen sailors. The fate of the men is as yet unknown.
