Linfield all but secure league title

Published: 23 November 1913

Although the soccer season will not conclude for another few weeks, the failure of Bohemians to defeat Linfield yesterday means that the Belfast team will be league champions. The amateurs of Dublin travelled north with great hopes, but they were shaded in a tight contest.

The gate receipts amounted to £131, which is the largest for Bohemians when playing an away game in Belfast. John McDonnell opened the scoring for Bohemians, but Linfield quickly equalised and then scored two further goals late in the second half. In other games Shelbourne beat Glenavon 1-0 in Dublin, and Belfast Celtic defeated Distillery 2-1 at Celtic Park.
