Lady Cyclist Crashes into River Shannon

Published: 26 June 1913

A young Limerick lady who was out enjoying a half day holiday on her bicycle, suffered a most unfortunate accident. She was cycling along the banks of the River Shannon, just past the Plassy Bridge, when she swerved to avoid some form of obstacle. Unfortunately this caused her to fall into the river. Her male companion dived in straight after her, and managed to save the woman from drowning. After being taken to a nearby house for some fresh clothes the woman was taken home, where she is recovering from her ordeal.
