Labour Day Celebrated in Dublin

A large number of trade union and labour supporters gathered in Dublin today to mark Labour Day. Led by bands, they marched from Parnell Square to Phoenix Park. The crowd in the Park was addressed by Mr MacPartlin, President of the Dublin Trades Council, who stated that the working classes need to march forward ‘until the workingman was free from starvation and the workhouse’. James Larkin told the crowd that current conditions were degrading and that unless the economic structure of society was overturned, nothing would change.
