Irish author awarded literature prize

Published: 1 December 1913

Dublin author James Stephens has been awarded the Polignac Prize from the Academic Committee of the Royal Society of Literature.

Stephens’ work is thought to be of an unorthodox nature in comparison to the works usually awarded the prize. It is hoped that the award will help him gain some much deserved recognition among his fellow countrymen.

He was awarded the prize for his novel Crock of Gold.
