Geraldine Manning Charged Over Attack on Redmond Bust
The suffragette who attacked a bust of John Redmond MP, and daubed it with paint, has been found guilty of malicious damage. The court heard that she had entered the Royal Hibernian Academy and attacked the bust. The Gallery said that while the damage could be made good, it was not fit for display after the attack. Geraldine Manning was ordered to pay a fine of 20 shillings and pay five shillings in compensation. She was given one week to pay, but on leaving the dock stated ‘I will not pay’.
