Citizen Army drilling in Fairview

Published: 17 December 1913

Two detachments of the Irish Citizen Army marched to Croydon Park, Fairview this morning for drilling purposes.

One group came from Liberty Hall and the other from the Aungier Street branch of the Transport Workers Union. From 10.30 to 11am drilling was carried on outside Liberty Hall, after which six hundred men and a bank marched to Croydon Park. They were accompanied by about 50 or 60 policemen.

The drilling continued for several hours in the park.

The large numbers show the growth of the army since its recent formation.
