Apparition at Wake in California

Published: 27 June 1913

It has been reported that at the wake of Robert Lavery, of Oakland, California, a considerable number of people witnessed an apparition of the Virgin Mary. The deceased’s daughter told reporters that ‘I saw this vision on the wall, so perfect that I, for a second thought a nun had come into the room. It was too beautiful to frighten anyone and beyond the pen to describe’. The deceased’s wife was of the opinion that the apparition had been sent so that the family could be happy and not to mourn. The apparition, which stayed in place between 2 am and 6.30 am was witnessed by twelve people.
