Plans for a €250m regeneration programme for The Square town centre in Tallaght have been announced. The centre says the plans would create 4,000 new retail jobs and more than 2,000 construction jobs.
Penneys chairman Arthur Ryan also confirmed that the clothing retailer would open a new flagship store at The Square.
The centre's director Eamonn Furlong said the project had planning permission, financial support, and commitments from several new tenants.
Under the plans, The Square will increase in size to almost 25,000 square metres. It already employs 4,500 people.
