BoI in another laser card blunder

Bank of Ireland is investigating an incident which resulted in a number of customers being double-charged on laser card transactions late this afternoon.

A spokesman for the bank has told RTÉ News that it is currently trawling through its records and plans to repay the accounts which were double-charged by midnight.

At this stage, the bank is unsure how many customers have been affected.

The incident has not affected standing orders or direct debits.

In some cases, people who made an earlier transaction during the day were charged a second time in the late afternoon.

A similar problem hit 120,000 Bank of Ireland customers last month.
