The auctioneer handling offers to buy pubs in the Thomas Read Group has said more than 30 submissions from interested parties were received by this afternoon's deadline.

The Group went into receivership at the behest of ACC Bank in March. Prior to that the group, which includes many well known Dublin pubs, had been under the protection of the courts. The group owed ACC Bank €15.5m.

The eight pubs and one restaurant in the group were subsequently put up for sale. They include Searsons, Pravada, Dawson Lounge, Lincoln's Inn, Ron Blacks, The Harbourmaster, The Bailey and Thomas Read and the Oak.

According to auctioneer Bill Morrissey, more than 30 submissions have been received. They mostly related to applications to buy individual pubs but some are interested in buying several of the businesses in the group.

Mr Morrissey is due to meet Martin Ferris, who is receiver to the group, tomorrow.

Among the group's other large creditors are Ulster Bank, which is owed €5.6m, the Revenue, owed €2m; AIB €4.6m; Diageo Ireland €1.1m and Lombard Ireland €1m.
