Qualceram buys freehold interest for €2m

Bathroom suites manufacturer, Qualceram Shires, has bought the freehold interest relating to part of its facility at South Quay, Arklow for €2m.

The group already owns the freehold interest in the remainder of the site, which is zoned for mixed use development such as hotel, recreation and residential purposes.

As previously stated, the group intends now to sell its Arklow site and relocate to an alternative site in the locality.

The company said the Arklow property will be put on the market by tender this week.

CEO, John O'Loughlin, said: 'We are now in a position to proceed with the disposal of the entire site, and continue to focus our attention on further enhancing our customer service capabilities from a purpose built location.'

Last month Qualceram Shires posted pre-tax profits of €3.9m in 2006, compared to a loss of €5.1m in 2005 - which had included over €6m in exceptional items.
