IBM opens Dublin research institute

IBM has announced the opening of a new research institute at IBM's West Dublin campus in Blanchardstown.

The Global Research and Analysis Institute is part of IBM's plans, announced in July, to invest €46m over the next several years in its operations in Dublin, creating 300 highly skilled jobs, many in research and development.

The institute is designed to research global economic development and trends.

General manager for Ireland, Michael Daly, said the IBM Institute for Business Value in Dublin continues the momentum behind IBM investments announced in Ireland last year.

He said it highlights Ireland's role as an important contributor to IBM's global research, development and innovation strategy.

There are IBVs already located in the US, China, Australia, the Netherlands.
