Plans for Shannon tech park announced

Plans for a €150m high technology park overlooking Shannon town have been formally launched by Taoiseach Bertie Ahern at a function at Dromoland Castle, Co Clare.

An estimated 1,500 people are expected to be employed at Westpark in Shannon, which will provide one million square feet of office space to cater for the next wave of super businesses in the hi-tech information technology and knowledge based business in the region.

Westpark is being constructed as a result of a partnership between private developer, Concre, and Shannon Development and the project will be phased in over the next 10 years.
