Alphyra up 26% on Powergen deal
Monday, 25 February 2002Shares in Alyphra jumped by almost 26% today, following the announcement by the company of an agreement with utility company Powergen.
The deal allows Powergen customers to make payments towards their electricity, gas and telephone bills through Alphyra's terminal network. Powergen has over 3.4 million customer accounts.
Alphyra shares closed 45 cent higher at €2.20 in Dublin this evening, after plummeting last week on the back of a sharp fall in company profits.
Alphyra is to open up its PAYzone payment network to Powergen customers. PAYzone has about 10,000 agents in the UK.
'Our ability to efficiently manage customer payments for Powergen across the UK is a good example of the multi-functional nature of the Alphyra terminal network,' says Alphyra CEO John Nagle.
