Neil says he is doing this show to survive, having been made redundant from his job with Talk Talk in Waterford after 11 years working with them. He lives with his girlfriend and their 11 year old son Dylan. He believes that The Voice will help get his name out to the wider public, and he can gig for a living as a result. He describes his voice as strong and says it has been compared to Mike Scott from The Waterboys. He had his first strum on an uncle's guitar when he was 7, went on to use his communion money to buy one for himself, and he has been gigging since he was fifteen.
