Alan is a full time musician employed by the Irish Defence Forces, playing clarinet in the Army Band. He is married with three children, 2 girls and a boy, all under 6. He describes his voice as husky and strong. As well as the clarinet he plays the guitar, saxophone, bodhran and tin whistle. His musical influences are Imelda May, Paulo Nutini and The Beatles. He is lead singer of a five piece band and also does solo gigs, gigging every weekend in pubs and at functions. As part of the Army Band he played for the Queen's visit to Ireland. He performs regularly at State functions and most recently, the inauguration of the new President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins.
